Highlights from the Annual General Meeting:
February 8th, 2008

The Chair of the Board, John Dalrymple-Fraser (left) presents the Honorary Life Membership award to Émile Thérien, past president of Canada Safety Council for his years of dedication in accident prevention and safety promotion.  From his professional years as Executive Director with both Fire Prevention Canada and the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, to his appointment as President for Canada Safety Council through to his retirement, he continues to be a well-recognized spokesperson in matters of safety.  His leadership has influenced and shaped the quality of safety for all Canadians.

Canada Safety Council’s Board of Directors also bestowed the Honorary Life Membership award to Stuart Munro for his distinguished service.  From very modest beginnings in 1967, Munro developed a motorcycle rider training program that grew to encompass a nationwide reach.  He was the first person to have a regular magazine column devoted entirely to motorcycle safety.   His work has drawn the attention of many countries who continue to seek his expertise.  Munro has been a significant contributor to motorcycle safety both on the national and international front.
