Summer Fire Safety Drive

The Canada Safety Council is pleased to be a partner in Duracell Canada’s summer 2006 fire safety campaign. The Duracell Fire Safety Drive started in the summer of 2002. Duracell Canada and local firefighters bring fire safety education events to communities across Canada. Starting in June, families nationwide will have the opportunity to improve their fire safety know-how at weekend events held in partnership with local fire services at local participating retailers such as Home Depot and Canadian Tire.

At these events, families can meet local firefighters and Elmer the Safety Elephant, tour a fire truck, and pick up a free fire safety guide. About 200 events will be held over the summer — promoted with the help of retail partners and Duracell’s Web site. In addition, a public awareness campaign will keep fire safety in the media throughout the summer period.

Local fire services interested in participating at these events in their comunity, please call Duracell's Event Specialist Laila Weller at InField Marketing (905) 282-0770, ext. 228.

In conjunction with the Summer Fire Safety Drive, Duracell is sponsoring the Canada Safety Council’s popular Fire Safety activity booklet for children, which features Elmer the Safety Elephant. You can request the booklets from the Canada Safety Council . The books are free of charge and will be available from the Canada Safety Council in May, but you may pre-order; we do ask you to cover the cost of shipping.
