Soccer Death due to Heading

Editor
The Ottawa Citizen

Dear Editor:

With much interest and concern, we read the article, Headers led to player's death (The Ottawa Citizen, November 12, 2002).

As the evidence clearly reveals, soccer at all levels must now be considered a contact sport with a high injury rate to the head. The evidence is indisputable. Appropriate action and consideration must be taken to address this major safety issue, including possible helmet use. Anything less flies in the face of public health concerns and injury prevention efforts!

Sincerely,

Emile-J. Therien
