National Police Award for Traffic Safety
and
Road Safety Lifetime Achievement Award

Call for 2008 Nominations
Deadline: May 30, 2008

Criteria and Qualifications / How to Nominate / Judging and Presentation / For More Information

The National Police Award for Traffic Safety recognizes excellence, dedication and initiative in the field of traffic safety by enforcement officers across Canada. The purpose of this award is to identify and commend active enforcement personnel for their work to improve traffic safety, and to encourage others to implement new initiatives or publicize those in which they are already involved. The award is specific to an outstanding achievement completed or reaching a significant milestone within the 2007 calendar year. Best practices collected through the award process are shared broadly with Canada's police community.

Nominations for the road Safety LIfetime Achievement Award have been received annually on behalf of those that have dedicated their career to road safety. Recognizing that no forum for lifetime contributions existed, Transport Canada's Road Safety and Motor Vehicle Regulation Directorate led the creation of an award where such contributions could be recognized. Transport Canada Director General's Road Safety Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes members of the policing community that have made significant outstanding lifetime contributions to traffic safety. This marks the 17th year that nominations for this award are being sought.

The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), Transport Canada and the Canada Safety Council are once again pleased to request nominations for these two awards.
