Safety Council new home for Canadian Fitness Safety Standards©
The copyright and ownership for the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards© and the Canadian Fitness Matters program have recently been transferred to the Canada Safety Council.
The Standards were developed by the Ontario Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (OASES) under the direction of the Fitness Safety Advisory Council. The third edition of the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards© were released in 2004.
“After working on the Safety Standards for over five years, it was difficult to give up the responsibility for the program. However, there could be no better organization to take over the administration of the program than the Canada Safety Council. OASES’ was thrilled when the Safety Council agreed to the transfer of ownership. We know that Canadian Fitness Matters will continue to thrive and grow under the direction of the Canada Safety Council,” said Patricia Clark, OASES Executive Director.
“The Canada Safety Council is very proud to take over the ownership of the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards. Reliable, service-oriented fitness clubs want to differentiate themselves from the run of the mill clubs. By becoming the new home for the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards, CSC aims to assist the top fitness centres in Canada to have their clients achieve a high degree of truthful perception concerning safety”, says John Dalrymple-Fraser, Chairman of the CSC Board of Directors.
The Safety Matters! facility recognition program will continue to be promoted to fitness facilities across
Canada
. The 3rd edition of the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards© may now be purchased from the Canada Safety Council. For more information on the program, please visit www.canadianfitnessmatters.ca.
