Partnering with the Private Sector
Private sector partnerships have become increasingly important in the development and delivery of Canada Safety Council programs. Initiatives funded by for-profit companies and business associations help CSC fulfil its mandate while contributing to its financial stability. This private sector funding is often tied to corporate objectives.
When the partnership is a cause-related marketing alliance, CSC's objective is to fulfil its safety mission and funding needs while helping the sponsor achieve compatible business and marketing objectives.
CSC recognizes there are risks it must avoid when entering into such partnerships. CSC views its role with private sector corporations as partnerships that require time and effort. Staff are aware there can be risks, and manage partnered initiatives accordingly.
- CSC works with the sponsor to fit its objectives into the context of the CSC’s mandate.
- A contract commits the corporation to conditions that will benefit both CSC and itself, and protects both parties.
- CSC gives no discounts or commissions to third parties.
- Above all, CSC maintains control of all safety messaging.
